The official launch of ACADIA took place in Florence on May 26th, 2003. The network links the main Regional Network and Documentation Centres in the field of addiction in Italy: Cedro Network (Tuscany Region), Gruppo Abele´s Documentation and Research Centre (Turin), dip&doc Network (Emilia-Romagna Region), ASL Ancona Study Centre (Marche Region), SEDES (Umbria Region).
The mission of the Acadia network is to optimize resources and services of the Documentation Centres pursuing effectiveness and efficiency. Acadia aims to facilitate documentation, improve lifelong training and update our target users, that is the professionals of Addiction Services and Therapeutic Communities, University researchers, teachers, students and the general public interested in drug problems.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To facilitate the development of the documentation, research and training in the field of alcohol and drugs
- To facilitate the access to the Documentation Centres and their online documentation
- To promote the lifelong training of librarians and documentation professionals with particular focus on new technologies
- To maintain the connection among Centres in order to facilitate the exchange and spread of the "good practices" concerning the documentation at national and international levels (ELISAD, SALIS)
- To improve the quality of the services provided and encourage the sharing of evaluation instruments.
OUR SERVICES
- Consultancy of books, grey material, scientific journals, multimedial tools
- Professional advice and guidance services for the treatment of information concerning bibliographical and social research
- Update on new publications and issues of scientific journals, coming events and meetings.
- Free access to our OPAC and online reference.
